Why do the default templates have two .css files?

Hello everyone,

this is probably a trivial question but I keep wondering about it: why do the default templates have two .css files instead of one? Is the template.css meant to provide fundamental declarations while the other .css file builds/extends upon it? Or is it something else entirely?

Hi, Magnar,
it's the other way around.
The (e.g.) "flat and modern.css" contains the general bootstrap stuff.
You will see if you compare to bootstrap.css or other themes like cerulean, yeti or so.

This way it is rather easy to change the styling. I used one of the bootstrap themes which you find in " www.bootswatch.com " together with the "template.css".

The "template.css" contains the LS specific styles.

And here you are to add your individual stylings.

Best regards

Also, template.css is loaded last so takes precedence over other style sheets and it should be used for template customizations.

Ah, I see. Thanks for the quick replies, guys! So the template.css should contain all user customizations while the other .css file should be left untouched due to the bootstrap settings and all?

Exactly. Although you are completely free to also change that. It will also work. But updating will be more difficult then.
