There are many threads about MS SQL and installation.
While it wouldn't be my first choice, it is possible to install Limesurvey with a MS SQL database. If the database is available on your server, you should be able to choose it during the installation process. If you have a MS SQL accessible but it does not give the option you most probably don't have the correct drivers installed.

PDO database driver for MySQL (pdo_mysql or pdo_mysqli) or Postgres (pdo_pgsql) or MSSQL (pdo_sqlsrv for Windows and pdo_dblib for Linux).
