I get this error when trying to save a Survey for later filling:
The active record cannot be inserted to database because it is not new.

Does anyone have a solution for this?

What version/build of LimeSurvey are you using?
Did you get the error when creating a new survey or importing a survey?

These kind of error popup from time to time.

I have no problem creating a survey or do the survey. I get this message when I try to save an half finished survey reply to fill the rest of the questions later.

Edit: I have the newest version installed on a Ubuntu server.

For the sake of history in this forum (when someone comes later with a similar problem) and to make sure it is really the "newest", always post the version you have installed. Especially at the moment, as we have two active branches. So there are 2 "newest" versions at the moment. And what today is the "newest", tomorrow might already not be the newest anymore. So please, copy the version number from the footer of your installation and post it when you have questions. In many cases, this helps others to help you.

You are missing a part in the front. In your case it is clear now that you are on the 2.64.1, but if the other branch would have had a release on the same day, it wouldn't help. So it is important to specific.

Yes, this is what specifies exactly which Limesurvey version you are using.

Which isn't the newest, that's the release of today LS 2.64.2 (170324).

Was the survey which having that issue imported or newly created?
You can try to copy the survey and check again if you can reproduce the issue.
Perhaps one question is broken inside the survey.
