Feature: customized surveys 3 Months, 3 Weeks ago

Hello
I am looking at the possiblity of using Limesurvey 2 for a project within an organization dealing with socially exposed groups in Denmark, probably modifying it for our purpose, and hopefully, if circumstances and you developers permit, I would enjoy to contribute to the Limesurvey 2 project eighter in doing this, or in other ways.
The features we require, which I have the impression are not a part of the current plans for LS2 are:
* Making it possible for a third party to activate a new run of an existing survey, without any means of editing that survey. Simply sign up, activate, and have access to results
* Making it possible for same third party to customize the survey by activating/deactivating parts of it (not by editing it).
I guess my questions are:
* Are these features already contained in the current plans for LS2? Are they realistic feature requests? Or are they completely outside the scope of LS2?
* In eigther case: Can I make them?
Please tell me if I need to be more specific in my explanation of said features. Thanks in advance for your response, and for a survey project that seems to become very good.
Regards
Troels

Duplicating a survey, with you in control of the assignments and data access - yes, that's part of the plans. Note: depending on the assignments + permissions, you may not have the perms to use the assignments/panel.
Activating/deactivating vs editing. You're basically editing but I get your drift. It's a new instance of the survey...
We're ALWAYS looking for developers to contribute.
If you have any questions, we can chat via phone or IM or email. What's your poison?

Troels,
are you interested in joining the LS2 development team? Just send me or Carsten Schmitz a PM.
Juhan left the team, that's the reason why you probably didn't get any answer

I just had no idea what "tfm att sus dot dk" meant. The spelling error of "att" threw me.

Haha.. Sorry about that. I did get a reply, when I had posted another message.
I was a bit thrown, though, because that message soon after disappeared from the forum.
I wrote it because at the time I was a bit concerned if Lime 2 is going to be far enough for me to use, by the time I will need it. At the time, it had been roughly a month since the last svn commit to Lime 2, I read on the mailing list that the Mitre group was leaving the project, and the decision focus on Lime 2 and only do bug-fixing on Lime 1.x seemed to have been revoked without a public announcement, since tickets for a new version arrose, and mostly all tickets for Lime 2 disappeared. Please correct me if I am wrong, but right now my impression is that a certain amount of effort goes into porting Lime 2 features into Lime 1.71 / 1.8, and developement of new features for Lime 2 is still a bit stale?
I would still like to contribute, but I need some clear feedback on the state of the project; what functionality is planned for the first beta release, if it has enough man-power assigned to it, or if it seems realistic to gather enough, preferably some kind of timeline if it is possible to make estimates at this point.
I very much like the things I have seen in Lime 2 so far. But my situation is that I should preferably have a working system implemented by November, or at least in the spring. I need to have some confidence that this is possible, to not have to choose another solution.
I don't mean any disrespect with these questions, or to insinuate that Lime 2 is in any trouble it can't handle. It is as far as I know, the only serous OSS Survey software in php, except for Lime 1, which, though it contains pretty much all the functionality one could ask for, really needs a rewrite for the backend code and the user interface. Also, I realize that any new-born OSS project is not completely predictable, and time-estimates can be tricky and depend on things out of your control.
I simply need some answers to my pressing concerns, and I imagine they might be relevant to others as well.
Best regards
Troels

That sounds very good
I was wondering if you would please answer the remaining questions I posed:
1. what are the planned functionality for the first beta? (or, where to find them? - the bug tracker still has only one ticket on L3 developement)
2. Is it a priority to expand L1 with new features?
3. How is the putting together of a new team comming along? Do you have the people you need, or in what areas do you lack support?
Thanks in advance
Troels
