1. I know this one can be hard to answer, but I'd like to know if there's an approximate date of releasing the final version of LimeSurvey 2.0. The only time schedule I found is from January 2008.
2. Now I use LS v1.53 and I was wondering if I should change it to v1.71? I mean: are there any cool features that were absent in v1.53? (I know that the change is worth doing for the security reasons). I couldn't find any clear summary of this.

gmaddockgreene has answered all your questions (Thanks!). A short note on upgrading: It's always useful to use the latest release. Upgrading is easy and has many advantages:
- more (improved) translations
- a lot of bugs fixed
- security improvement
- new features
Best regards,
Mazi

Unfortunately there isn't any timetable. I once heard that some kind of beta release will be available in late September but this might not be an up to date information.
I'll try to contact the dev team to ask for release dates.

Juhan, can you add the expected release dates (of Alpha 4 and Beta 1) to the roadmap page in the wiki to have a rough overview?!
