I'd like to now too. So far, i haven't found any thing that states it. Would be good to know, especially if you're doing delphi surveys which require lots of data imported into a survey via attributes in the token table.

I don't think that there is any real limit to it. But you need to keep in mind that your database will have a certain limit. I think the token attributes are stored in a different table as the answers, so at least you have the two limits adding up.

You can test yourself by e.g. adding 50/75/100 token attributes and then test-activate the survey. If Limesurvey fails to set up the lime_tokens_123456 table due to DB limitations there will be an error message.

We have recently tested this on a MySQL database and Limesurvey version 2.06. We sequentially increased the number of token attributes and noticed that at ~80 additional token attributes we started having problems activating the survey.lemonlimebitters wrote: I'd like to now too. I noticed a decrease in the maximum number of attributes between versions 2.06 vs. 2.50+ with the same database. Is this due to the change from utf8_unicode_ci to utf8mb4_unicode_ci?
In my case:
In my case:
- Version 2.06lts Build 160417 has a maximum of 82 attributes
- Version 2.50+ Build 160506 only has a maximum of 62 attributes

Yes, the new character set uses more space so high-bit UTF-8 characters can be stored.

Hi! I am dealing with the same topic:
LS version 3.14.5
I tried several times to create new test surveys:
When I first tried to add 72 attributes, I got an internal server error: (Sorry, but in German)
500: Interner Serverfehler
CDbCommand konnte das SQL-Statement nicht ausführen: SQLSTATE[42000]: Syntax error or access violation: 1118 Row size too large. The maximum row size for the used table type, not counting BLOBs, is 65535. This includes storage overhead, check the manual. You have to change some columns to TEXT or BLOBs
I'll try to translate:
500: Internal Server Error
CDbCommand failed executing SQL-Satement: SQLSTATE[42000]: ...
After it failed, I tried to add just a few attributes (9) to the same survey, wich was not possible anymore. So I had to delete the survey and try with a new one:
After a few tests I found out, that once I had tried to add too much attributes, it was not possible anymore, to add any attributes, - even if there were none yet.
I found out, that when I add 10 attributes a time, I am able to add ten and ten and ten ... until I have 60 attributes. When I then try to add another 10 I again receive the above error.

That sounds worth a bug report. Please report this issue at bugs.limesurvey.org.
