Well, I am not surprised that you were not sucessful. when I look at the requirements it seems like Oracle is not supported.

Well, the link that you have sent is the idea generation tool, where users can ask for new features. So this is just a wish of someone.

In the comments NSS mentioned that Oracle DB is not compatible with the other supported databases. Seems like he has hacked limesurvey to work with Oracle, but has lost the possibility to use other databases. And, you probably will have to do the work for each update.

I'd rather use MySQL or any other supported database, but there might be a specific reason why you need Oracle.

Maybe you get in touch with NSS, maybe he can send you the modified files...

well, the reason to want install LS with Oracle support is simple, my client wanna this posibility because Oracle is the unique database his use. Like a software usage policy

Try to talk to NSS and how he did it.

But don't just look into the effort of implementing it, but also how to maintain it. Because depending on the implementation it can cause quite a lot of work to keep up with the updates. And it is not a good idea to skip updates because of that (security issues).

Are there any news about the installation with an Oracle Data Base?

Is it possible to create a new auxiliary class/function(s) that creates the sql strings? I think the LimeSurvey project would benefit from such a class because you can use the same function(s) to create sql statements again and don't have to write "SELECT ..." in all necessary php-files again and again. Perhaps it would help customizing the sql strings for the communication with an Oracle database. The syntax seems to be one of the problems. For example I tried using "SELECT ... FROM tableXY as a" and it doesn't work because the correct statement for Oracle would be "SELECT ... FROM tableXY a" (without "as"). By using an auxiliary class these modifications can be done in this class and not in every php page. In the best/good case this methods can be used in new releases and support Oracle without changing every sql statement.

Limesurvey 2.0 will use a PHP framework (probably "CodeIgniter"). Maybe this framework support Oracle (but I doubt so and still lots of queries would have to be rewritten).

Are there many Open Source projects supporting Oracle?
