Hi,

I can't create my first survey because the 'Create or import new survey' icon is missing. I'm using Version 1.90+ Build 9642. I installed it today, March 7, 2011. I've tried to get it to work with Chrome, Firefox, and IE--no luck. In the upper-right I see two icons: one for "log out" and one for "help." But the "create new survey or import" is missing. Any suggestions welcomed!

Strange...!
Maybe first look at the source code and check if you find the link, something like:
<a href="#" onclick="window.open('admin.php?action=newsurvey', '_top')"title="" ><img src='http://yourdomain/Limesurvey/images/add.png' name='AddSurvey' title='' alt='Create, import, or copy a survey' /></a>

No, that is not in the source code. I have attached a screen shot of the way the page looks, without that "create survey" icon.

Your screenshot shows that you logged in as 'christim' probably a non-administrator simple user , without permission for creating surveys or editing survey templates...
Check the permissions for this user (turn it to 'superadministrator' on) or login like a 'superadministrator'
