I have seen this issue in past post in the forum but didn't get a satisfying answer from them.

When exporting data to SPSS from Limesurvey, string variables are truncated to 255 characters. People reported that problem with earlier versions of SPSS and Limesurvey. I still get the same problem with SPSS 20 and Limesurvey 1.92+

Sure there is the solution of exporting string to excel then back to SPSS. But I wanted to know why it’s not possible to do it directly from Limesurvey to SPSS.

Does anyone have any insights on this?
