TOPIC: deactivation of automatic saving

deactivation of automatic saving 6 months 4 days ago #88645

Hi everybody,

I have a question about the saving behaviour of limesurvey.

My surveys store the answers of a participant each time, when he press next (either group or question). The data record is marked as not submitted.
Each time a participant closes the browser and starts the survey again a new record is created when he presses at least once on the next button.

Now my question.

Is it possible to configure surveys not to save until a participant really submits the answers of a survey? I don't need partially filled answers. And I know that there is the possibility to export only submitted records.

Thanks in advance
halli

No, and do that means a lot of PHP dev work.

You can do a script to delete "not closed" survey, and make a cronjob at night to it automatically.

This is not possible. LimeSurvey needs to store answers as the pages are submitted to support conditions, relevance, INSERTANS, etc.

Ok, than I have one additional question.
I have a survey that is not anonymous. And each time I close the survey after clicking next on the welcome page a new recordset is created.

Wouldn't it be better to update the existing (answer) record of the participant?
Is there a option for this or do you think, it might be a good idea to create a feature request for that?

Enable token based persistency for your survey so the existing record set will be used. (Survey settings).

As Andre pointed out, this is only possible when using tokens and the related answer persistance setting.
