New features are:

New functions: condition edit, delete all conditions for this question, delete all conditions in a scenario, edit a scenario. New layout and simplification for the Add condition form, new layout for the copy condition form.
  • Default initial value for slider question by using the slider_default question attribute.

LimeSurvey needs your help! E-mail
Friday, 05 September 2008 15:51

During the last few weeks LimeSurvey has had some great news:

  • Incredible Growth: The LimeSurvey community doubled its size during the last 8 months; limesurvey.org now has around 90,000 visitors every month, almost 6000 registered users and the numbers are rising!

  • LimeSurvey 1.8 Coming: The feature freeze on the LimeSurvey 1.7x has been lifted and there is work going on for version 1.8. So if you have a great and stable feature developed for 1.7x now it is the time to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . The first beta version of 1.8 will be released end of September and it will contain at least a new quesiton type, new chart graphics in statistics (without jpGraph) and much more!
  • LimeSurvey 2 Progressing: The development lead changed and some new architecture decisions have been made. One of these changes is to use the jQuery javascript framework instead of dojo. The jQuery community provides a lot more user-contributed quality plugins than the dojo community and also jQuery is easier to learn. We want LimeSurvey 2 to be easy for new developers and we want LimeSurvey 2 to be released by the end of the year with your help.

However to hold our LimeSurvey 2 Development Timeline we have two problems where we need your help!

  • Donations: Due to our high user numbers LimeSurvey is a full-time project now - at least one project member is working now full-time for LimeSurvey - but we rarely receive donations. Even though our user numbers have doubled - our donations have not. It is hard to buy food on a 'thank you' and we don't want to plaster the LimeSurvey homepage with bad-looking Google ads! If you want to help us speed up development of LimeSurvey 1.8 and LimeSurvey 2 then consider a serious donation to the project. LimeSurvey can provide a standard invoice for your donation if you require, just leave a comment when you donate.
  • Development help: If you are a kick-ass PHP and CakePHP (and even maybe jQuery) developer and you would like to do some great work in an open source project with more than 10,000 downloads every month and ranked in the top 100 on sourceforge.net please get in touch with us!

Thank you!

LimeSurvey 1.80 Release Candidate 2 ! E-mail
Wednesday, 26 November 2008 02:06

We just put up a new release candidate of version 1.80 (see changelog) which includes about 80 fixes and even a couple new features.

The most notable new feature is a webservice to 'remote-control' LimeSurvey from other applications. It is is a PHP:SOAP based Web services application, allowing users to do several things with Limesurvey from an other application: Start predefined surveys with varying titles, welcome texts, admins and end URLs. Insert token, add predefined groups to your coresurvey etc. More features to come! Thank you to our newest team member 'rakete' (Tim Wahrendorff) for this!

If you find bugs or problems please report to the bugtracker. This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it , our quality manager, will take a look at at first and filter and categorize for the developers - like he did in the past for almost 2 years now - we would be drowning without him!

It was also put even more work into redesigning questions layout for accessibility (making it tableless too). Evan Wills spent a great deal of time on this part of the LimeSurvey 1.80 version. If you have comments about LimeSurvey accessibility (on the client side) please let This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it know.

Besides that we have now bobc55 (Bob Cummingham) working on the documentation and updating it accordingly so we can start synchronizing the documentation translations soon. Thank you!

Also I want to thank This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it for his tremendous work in the past month on fixes, updates, releases and many other things and features he worked on together with Jason Cleeland - as the rest of the developers also did - thank you to you all!

Last but not least a big thank you to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it and all the others team members who did help people in the forums and IRC chat.

If you  want to be part  of this great project - let us know because we are always looking for help!

If you like LimeSurvey and it helps you get your work done please consider a serious donation - as that is needed to keep this project afloat! Remember that a comparable commercial software would cost you way more money - just a fraction of this -spent on us- helps.

LimeSurvey 2 Alpha 3 Internal Milestone reached! E-mail
Monday, 21 July 2008 06:20

The LimeSurvey team is happy to announce that the Alpha 3 milestone of LimeSurvey version 2 was released this week. This is not an official but an internal release and marks three months of hard work on LimeSurvey 2.

This release marks the first Alpha that is fully capable of administering and delivering surveys. The survey builder is functional: the UI is VERY rough and will be replaced. The installer works nicely; setup should go smoothly. Your feedback is critical to our success... so speak up ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ).

See the LimeSurvey 2 team at OSCON from 21.Jul to 25.Jul.
