Security Stable 1.52 Plus Release E-mail
Thursday, 18 October 2007 22:08

Today we found out about an Remote File Include hack for the actual LimeSurvey version (which only works if your register_globals PHP setting is set to ON). As always we created a patched LimeSurvey version within a few hours which is now available . We strongly advise to update to this latest 1.52plus version! Fast fix: Replace the language.php with the new language.php from the download package. Still we recommended to do a full upgrade to take advantage of all the latest fixes.

LimeSurvey 1.52 Stable Released! E-mail
Sunday, 19 August 2007 17:51

The response to LimeSurvey 1.50 has been overwhelming. Alot of new people discoverd Limesurvey in the last twelve days and their positive feedback gave us alot of motivation. So we were really fast and created a new version which on one hand fixes a number of minor issues and on the other hand raises the inner security of LimeSurvey.

Please have a look at the change log and then please proceed to the download.  Thank you for flying with LimeSurvey Surveys. :-)

As a new feature we opened an add-on repository on this website. It's intended to be from users for users and to store and share design-, question-, label set-templates and also sample surveys.

LimeSurvey Version 1.50 Stable Release! E-mail
Tuesday, 07 August 2007 01:28

Press Release: The LimeSurvey development-team is very proud to announce the new stable version 1.50. The worldwide team of about seventeen developers and translators around project leader Carsten Schmitz invested over one year in developing and testing this new version of the currently most used open source survey system. The software, which was previously named PHPSurveyor and renamed May 2007 to LimeSurvey, has been improved a lot and many new wanted features have been added.

In short the most import new features are:

  • New User-Management-System
  • MS SQL compatibility
  • Multi-lingual Surveys (do the same survey in several languages at the same time)
  • New Question Types
  • New administrative GUI
  • Online documentation
  • 9 additional languages (25 in total)

Additionally there were many other improvements, which are all listed in the change log .
LimeSurvey is very much comparable to any commercial product and a great example for the success of an Open Source Project for private, corporate and public services use.

Download Limesurvey now!

LimeSurvey wouldn't have been possible without the lots and lots of work of contributors working in their spare time.

I can't possibly thank you, the team developers and translators, enough for your encouragment, work and determination to make LimeSurvey a great product. I just can say: You succeeded!

To the donators who thought in the past that donating to this project would help: You were right!

Based on the team and donator support we will continue to support and enhance LimeSurvey in the future and this future looks very bright and shiny right now!

Stable Plus Versions Available! E-mail
Sunday, 26 August 2007 02:00

Due to the fact that we are receiving updated and even new translations every week and we were looking for a way to offer always the latest stable version with all small hotfixes applied we decided to go for a model that the Open Source e-learning software Moodle is using very successfully: The Plus version !

This version will be updated every week without notice and contains the latest stable version (as of now 1.52) with all new and updated languages and small bugfixes applied. No new functionality will be in that plus version!

You will still be able to download for reference purposes the normal version 1.52. If you don't know what version to choose, always choose the Stable Plus Version since it contains the latest stuff and is most stable.

For example the latest LimeSurvey 1.52 Plus version sports a completely new language: Basque!
This language was kindly provided by Juan Ezeiza Gutiérrez from Axular and we are very proud to be the host of such a translation! Now we can provide LimeSurvey translated into 30 different languages!

Also I would like to say a big thank you to Mark Yeung, who provided a complete Chinese Traditional (Hong Kong Dialect) translation. He not only translated the application but he also did a complete translation of the online manual to Chinese, too! Mark is maintaining an e-learning website for Chinese people who want to learn English.

Thai & Romanian Translators Wanted! E-mail
Friday, 17 August 2007 13:07

The LimeSurvey project is looking for Thai and Romanian translators - as these are the worst maintained languages at the moment. Of course, some other languages could get more attention too Wink. Beside the chance to work in an Open Source Development Team your reward will be the acknowldgment by the LimeSurvey community (well, especially by your fellow countrymen) and your name will be immortalised in the Team listing (if you like we can also link to your personal homepage). If you are interested please start here or here.
