Hello, here is the situation :
  • I have a surver called ABC ( say abc.com is the address) and that is where I will have my limeSurvey installed.
  • I have a dedicated Database server called "XYZ" and that is where I want the database to be fetched for my limeSurvey.

Please note that the dabase is of PostgreSQL.

While installing, it does not show PostgreSQL in the pre-installation and Configuration pages :(

I CANNOT change the database typr to PostgreSQl. I can fill in the details like Database location (Hostname which is xyz.com in my case), Database user, Database password, Database name. BUt connection error. Ofcourse that is expected.

The connection to the database server has to be done using port: 5434.

In short, I am not being able to install limeSurvey. How can I resolve this issue.

You need pdo_pgsql to connect to a postgre DB.

php.net//manual/en/ref.pdo-pgsql.php

Need to be installed and activated ( aptitude install php5-pgsql for example).

I tried it, now I am being able to see the postGreSQl, but still I am not being able to connect.

Attaching the screenshot.

I have checked the connection to the database server and also the database mentioned using terminal, they are correct and they exist.

Not being able to figure out what has to be done now to get it working.

The port is OK ?

I think you can use DBHOST:port
