Have put together a large survey and have tried to activate it. However, a screen comes up stating:
Survey table could not be created
Database error
'serveytablecreation'

Have checked survey logic- no problems found.

Any tips, suggestions, advice?

Hello

it's a problem with the number of questions ans sub-questions in your survey . i had the same problem. I tried to use matrix questions but each cell is represented by a column in the db. I had a large nimber of columns more than Mysql can deal with in a single table. It'a limitation of Limesurvey ( all versions ) is that you create survey with a multi-tables structure on input but with a single table on output. I think that in the future it will be different.

solution
reduce the number of questions

This is a very important observation. What is a "large number"? Do you have any idea whenn the number of questions and subquestions will become a problem? Hundreds of questions, thousands of questions? I thing it is very important to know this.

This is very hard to say, because it depends a little on the type of question.

A single choice question usually occupies a single column. If you have a lot of multiple choice questions, the problem gets worse, because in a multiple choice question, each answer option needs a column in the database.

Somewhere in the manual or FAQ you can find the information about the limits of different databases and database engines.

In theory, one multiple choice question could already be too much, if you have for example 2000 answer options.

So your question is very difficult to answer and depends on the questionnaire and its structure.
Have a look at the manual! It is a really valuable source for information. Here some helpful links:
Manual (EN) | Question Types | Question Attributes | Workarounds
