session.save_path unwritable while installing version 2 (again) was created by fourforfore
I am experiencing the same problem that rejeanp experienced in a previous post.
I made the changes recommended in the InstallerController.php file.
Didn't work.
Is there something else I need to do?
Thanks

Yes, you need to make sure that your session save path is writable as the error indicates.

It is usually a PHP setting which is unrelated to LimeSurvey.
You will need to google how to correctly configure your PHP session save path or you contact your server/webspace provider. They might be able to to figure out why sessions are not working properly.

That's weird.
I would think that it would be in the LimeSurvey code, like the tmp upload and application/config files.
I'll check with my hosting company.
Thanks

OK,
I asked my hosting company to help me fix this.
Their solution is to create my own php file with the session.save_path = / script.
They couldn't answer my next two questions.
Where do I place the file and where is the path directed to?
Any ideas?

Does anybody have a solution here?
I would like to use a survey on my site, but it's getting to look pretty bleak.
Help...maybe?

I had to enable SSH on my hosting server then use sftp with filezilla to see the root directory and full path. I created a folder (755) named tmp outside of limesurvey then I created a php5.ini file in the html folder with the full path to the new tmp location.
session.save_path = /home/content/21/21593483/html/tmp
HTH

Hi Russ,
I have said this many times "you have to be smarter than what you're working with"
Well, when it comes to php...php is smarter.
A couple of questions.
I enabled SSH (no problem)
I created a tmp folder outside of the survey folder.
I created a php5.ini and placed it inside the survey folder.
Here are the questions:
By HTML Folder, do you mean inside the survey folder? Because I am unable to find an actual folder with the name html.
Secondly, the path that you posted, is that the actual path or do I need to modify it?
Thanks for your patience.

If you are using Linux hosting it's the folder where your html files are. The path I posted is for my server, you would use the full path to your new tmp folder you see in the ssh sftp filezilla Remote site: address bar
