Hi,
having researched much and limesurvey would be the application serving my needs,
if I only could make the installation work.

The server is Ubuntu.
I extracted the archive, created symbolic link to this directory '/var/www/survey'.
When I put a simple HTML-file into the Limesurvey root-dir, it is displayed.
But any PHP-file inside the lime-directory is NOT executed.

I configured
AllowOverride All
FollowSymLinks

So I am stuck here.
Any ideas how to fix this or continue troubleshooting?

Are you the admin of the server?
Is PHP running at all?
PHP is not running correctly with your httpd, which seems to be Apache.

This is out of scope for the limesurvey forum.

Create a php file test.php
<?php
phpinfo();
?>
and try to get it running. Is that working?

There are so many settings which decide how PHP and Apache will interact,
that I cannot tell you what to do.

If you need some instructionsets to get Apache,PHP Mysql running on Ubuntu browse through www.howtoforge.com/howtos/linux/ubuntu to find something suitable to you.

Hi jelo,

thank you for your reply.

Meanwhile it is working. After research it was possible to install via Plesk on a separate subdomain (inside regular path) and it works now. (even changing the open_basedir did not work before).

Creating my first survey, it is definitely worth the effort! :)
