Hi i am new to these forums, i am having difficulties getting the email settings to work, firstly i am assuming that i would get an email when someone fills in the survey is that correct? but my main problem is when i fill in the email details and i add the SMTP password: and the bounce password and save it ,for some reason it seems to add more dots my password is 9 characters long but if you look at the image you will see what i mean

Also is there a way to get anyone taking the survey to add there email address so i can get in touch with them?

Hello,

if you want to recieve a confirmation/response email for each participant you have to add your email adress to the "Genereal settings" -> "Notification & data management" -> "Send basic admin notification email to:" or "Send detailed admin notification email to:" options of your survey.

If you want the participant to leave their email address you can use a "Short free text" question to ask him/her for his/her email address. But be careful, you can get problems with the anonymity of the survey.

The pw placeholders seem to have a standard length so it is even more difficult to guess the PW. I think this is something that depends on the browser.

My PW for example has 8 digits and LS shows 13 placeholders.

Have you tried if it works?

I set up a test survey and filled it in but did not get any notification ,having said that i set up a new user and received an email saying this is an automated email to notify that a user has been created .
Does that mean the email is working across the board?

If the new user has received an email, then your email settings are correct.
Sometimes the confirmation emails are treated as spam, so please check your spam folder.

I have collected all "spam" related advice I could find at the forums and written a blog post at the limesurvey-consulting.com website, titled "How to prevent Limesurvey email invitations or reminders being treated as spam".

Hi,

I have the problem with the email confirmation.

I specified the field for the confirmation with the specific field. But I don't receive an e-mail when i finished the survey...

The user can print its answers...
