Hi Good Day,

Currently I am using List with comments as the question type for my active survey and Pie chart will appear for the statistics of the results.

Since it is List with Comments, is it possible to EXCLUDE Comments in generating the pie chart?

Because normally we are just comparing the benchmark of answers in the chart, not comments.

If it is possible, may I ask how to do it?

Thank you and Best Regards,
-Fiano:) :) :)

This can only be done by editing the source code which
- will affect all surveys
- will cause problems when updating Limesurvey later on (you have to re-implement the patch).

Check /admin/statistics_functions.php

Hi Mazi,

Does this mean that my inquiry stated above is not advisable?

Thanks,

Well, I think some users might want to use different numbers (exclude comments) at statistics, but the current system isn't flexible enough to handle this so you have to manually change the source code which I don't recommend.
Better use "real" data analysis tools like Excel, SPSS or R.

Hi Mazi,

I'm sorry but I did not understand what you meant by "real" data analysis.
Does this mean that for me to fix my problem, I should export the results from LimeSurvey to MS-Excel then I will just generate a graph from Excel?

Thanks and Best Regards,
-fiano

Correct. Limesurvey only covers basic data analysis while Excel, SPSS and other tools were made just for this. They are much more powerful and provide more flexibility.

Is it risky to modify the statistics_functions.php while my survey is ongoing/activated?

What will be it's possible effect in my survey?

Thanks and Best Regards,

File Attachment:

File Name: statistics_functionphp.txt
File Size: 160 KB

Hi Mazi,

I already checked the file and opened it using notepad.. but the problem is, I cannot find the portion that I will edit to exclude Comments (from list with comments question type) in generating Pie Graph Response Statistics.

Please I need your assistance in this.
:( :( :(

the file is attached below, I just copied all the contents from statistics_function.php then placed it to a new Notepad File.

Thank you so much Mazi,
-Best Regards

Sorry, but we can't offer support for customized coding, that is way beyond free support (we do all this in our free time).

About "Is it risky to modify the statistics_functions.php while my survey is ongoing/activated? What will be it's possible effect in my survey?"
-> This will not effect any surveys at runtime as long as you do not use the public statistics feature at any of the active surveys:
docs.limesurvey.org/statistics#Public_statistics
