I am web designer, so I know front-end code, but don't work with databases at all.

I hesitated to install limesurvey in my website (has mySQL in cPanel, so I'm assuming that means I can, even though this is my first time).

Being in a hurry, the www.limeservice.com hosted option will work for now. But how difficult is it to move the limeservice data on over to my own site, when the time is right?

If its not really that seamless or 2x harder than a clean install, could someone let me know?
Is there anything I need to know beforehand I start using limeservice alot, bearing in mind it'll all be transferred later?

Hello,

to move to your own installation just download the database dump from within your LimeSurvey installation at LimeService and upload/execute it at your own database server. Same for any customized templates.

So it is no problem at all. LimeService does not lock you in .

Carsten forgot to mention that you don't have to take care of regular backups when using Limeservice and that the server is optimized to run Limesurvey installations.
