RESOLVED: Returning to login screen after upgrade 3 years 6 months ago #49849

I'm having the problem described here:
docs.limesurvey.org/tiki-index.php?page=..._you_to_login_screen

IE6 Cookies - That's not the problem.

UTF8 - That's not the problem.

PHP Sessions - Yes, I have a problem here.
~/htdocs/cgi-bin/tmp/ is the path for sessions, and always has been.
Permissions is set to 777
I have sessions there from this morning (before upgrade), but none are being added now.
I don't have access to php.ini, but nothing has changed from this morning except for doing the upgrade.

Any suggestions?

1. Please upload a phpinfo file so we can take a look at your server configuration. Just put the following code into a file named phpinfo.php and upload it to your webserver:
< ?php phpinfo(); ? >
(Delete the spaces next to </> when copying the code.)
After uploading please post the link to the file.

2. Please switch on debug mode by adding the following line to your config.php file:
$debug = '1';

Are there any additional errors reported on top of the page?

The debug info shows this:

20101002T060829: tebbuttonline.com/survey/admin/admin.php
PHP Warning: Unknown: open(/var/php_sessions/sess_0f1fe47283f300dac8323a18ca747488, O_RDWR) failed: No such file or directory (2) in Unknown on line 0
PHP Warning: Unknown: Failed to write session data (files). Please verify that the current setting of session.save_path is correct (/var/php_sessions) in Unknown on line 0

Is that a setting in Limesurvey, or is it an issue with the host?

I tried creating the folder "/var/php_sessions" with permission 777 in both the root and LS folders, but it made no difference.

Okay, I found a way to edit php.ini, so it's fixed now.
Sorry for wasting your time. Another donation on the way! :)

1. Which Limesurvey version do you run?

2. Please upload a phpinfo file so we can take a look at your server configuration. Just put the following code into a file named phpinfo.php and upload it to your webserver:
Code:
< ?php phpinfo(); ? >
(Delete the spaces next to </> when copying the code.)

I'm not a server expert and it is no Limesurvey connectd problem I guess so you might want to ask that question at a server admin forum.
