The SPSS export is no longer (when was that changed?) containing all recorded fields (e.g timing per question).

Most people might not need the timing beside checking the data for speed filler during the first data check. To suppress the timing fields seems to be most suitable for the majority of users.

To be more flexible it might be possible to implement the column control into the export routines of SPSS and R with default deselecting the timing fields.

The next step could be to advance the column control with a template system.
You could define the vars you want to export as a template.
