I just downloaded the code to try it out but I got this error after creating a new user, then clicking set user permissions.

Thanks for the note and bug report. It has been fixed so will won't be an issue in the stable release.

Just downloaded rc5 again but I'm still seeing the same error after saving permissions and clicking continue. Please let me know if the rc5 release is updated. Thanks.

Btw, I also observed that the admin user does not appear on the user list in the rc5 release. Is this by design?

This bug is in the 1.92 RC5 release. If you have access to the source code, you can patch it by deleting one line - see patch github.com/LimeSurvey/LimeSurvey/commit/...d325f01ff44ae23a13e6
