Apologies if this is in the wrong section.

I doing a statistics export to Excel and have a question about the formatting of the export. When I view it in Excel I can see the question headers however I can also see the question code in brackets after it.

Is there any way I can stop the question code from being exported so I dont have to remove them in Excel which is a long process.

I also have the same issue with HTML code, it seems to put HTML code in there like <br> which I need to get rid of.

I hope this can be done at source, I dont want to have to write a load of macros in Excel to do this.

Thanks

Dave

1. Which Limesurvey version are we talking about?

2. Besides the options offered at export there are no other settings to configure the export.

Version:
$versionnumber = "1.90+";
$dbversionnumber = 143;
$buildnumber = '9642';

In terms of the export is there any way to alter the actual code to customise the output? I am assuming there is some sort of code somewhere that processes the stats and spits them out to Excel, that must be editable in some form?

I always thought that HTML characters will be removed, but I'm not absolutely sure.

You can test if this is fixed at the latest version by testing our online demo at demo.limesurvey.org/admin(external link) which always runs the latest Limesurvey version.

I've created a test survey in your demo area and it still has the same issue.

I have attached the Excel output which is like what I am getting.

File Attachment:

File Name: Copy of statistic-survey31951.pdf
File Size: 28 KB

So you will see in it that I wold need to remove everything where it says "Field Summary for xxx" and then the question and answer numbers that appear in brackets (i.e. A1, A2, A3, etc)

I don't consider this a bug but probably intended behavior (I didn't code this part).
I think it would be best if you had options like "filter HTML characters" and "show question code at column heading" at the export screen, what do you think?

You can add this as a feature request at our feature tracker . Please describe your idea as detailed as possible and try to outline a suitable solution/implementation as well.

If you are trying to implement that yourself have a look at docs.limesurvey.org/How+to+contribute+new+features
The file to be edited are located at /admin/exportresults.php and /admin/exportfunctions.php

Thank for the reply.

I'll have a look and see if I can modify it and then submit a feature request. Thanks for the help once again.

I've looked at the code but to be honest it looks like double dutch to me :-)

Is there any way I can get assistance in changing the code, even if I have to pay for it? I've pinged a message in the chat. I need this resolving asap as I'm trying to promote Limesurvey to my department and this is holding things up a little.

I have sent an email with a rough quote for changing this feature according to your needs. Coding can be done today or tomorrow if you are in a hurry.
