Hi,

I trying to export data from limesurvey to SPSS. I followed the instruction, tried it a couple of times but I still get the same error. The data file couldn't be opened.

these are the first couple lines of the sytax:

*$Rev: 121017 $ all 2.
SET UNICODE=ON.
SHOW LOCALE.
PRESERVE LOCALE.
SET LOCALE='en_UK'.
GET DATA
/TYPE=TXT
/FILE='D:\ICV\uni\lime\daten\neu\survey_477755_SPSS_data_file.dat'

and this is the first error message in SPSS:
>Error. Command name: GET DATA
>(2269) Failure opening file: D:\ICV\uni\lime\daten\neu\survey_477755_SPSS_data_file.dat
>Execution of this command stops.
CACHE.
EXECUTE.

I'm using SPSS20 and limesurvey Version 2.00+ Build 130325.

Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong? I'm not a big SPSS expert and pretty new with limesurvey - so I'm totally lost.

Thank you so much for providing this forum here, btw. I really appreciate it :-) Saved me so many times.

Sorry to respond so late to your question.

Please check the following:

1. Make sure your data and script file is for SPSS 16 or higher.
2. Open your spss.dat file and make sure you have data in that file. Use a true text editor to open. Some editors add invisible stuff that somehow alters the file when you close-save the file.
3. Make sure the path you input for the data file in the .sps file actually exist. That is, Does D:\ICV\uni\lime\daten\neu\survey_477755_SPSS_data_file.dat actually exist?
4. Make sure your script and .dat file are located in the same folder in the path you are indicating.
5. Make sure nothing was erased from the original .sps generated by LimeSurevey when you added the path instruction to the file.

Hope this helps. Let me know.
