One of our client just reported that the token ID for their survey is auto increased by 2, the pattern seems random, some survey's token started increasing by from 70+, some started from 20+.

Anybody has idea what cause this?

Cheers
Angie

Hello,

what LimeSurvey version do you use? Perhaps it was a bug that is allready removed.

If I'm correct there is an "AUTO_INCREMENT" option set for the tid column in the database table. Perhaps the reason for the increase by 2 lies in the database/database system you use.

I think you are talking about the "tid" column of a lime_tokens_12345 table?
This is increased automatically. There might be gaps if tokens are deleted.

In general, the number of the ID doesn't matter as long as it is unique. So no need to worry?!

Hi Stefen

Thanks for your reply, we are using version Version 1.87+ Build 8518. The tid is set to Auto_Increment as default.

The increase by 2 does not happen from very beginning, it only start at least after 10 or 20 token has been entered.

Thanks
Angie

Hi Marcel

Thanks for your reply, yes I'm talking about the tid, and no, there are no token deleted, I've test after client reported it.

I know what you mean, normally the ID doesn't matter, and normally we don't show the ID in our other system, but we need an explanation to the client why there is a gap as they didn't delete token in between, their survey is audited by auditor every year, so every single unusual thing there needs to be an explanation as the auditor might just ask the question.

So, any other place I should check?

Cheers
Angie

Hello,

LimeSurvey 1.87+ is an old version from 2010. It might be a good idea to upgrade it to the current stable version (1.91+, Build 12170 from 23.01 2012). Perhaps this will solve the problem.

I have never heard of such a problem.

Did you enable public registration for the survey?

Can you reproduce the problem at a test survey?

I have look of our own old survey, token id seems to be in sequence, but that time we imported whole token from csv, and I'm sure we were using an older version that time.

And nope, public registration is disabled as it is a token controlled survey.

And yes, just tested in a testing survey, same problem, had 2 existing token, when adding the third one, token id is 3, but when adding the forth one, token id changed to 5....

Strange problem......

I don't really consider this a bug since technically it will cause no problems...
You can test if this is fixed at the latest version by testing our online demo which always runs the latest Limesurvey version.

If you can reproduce the problem there please report back.
