Hi Everybody,
I'm trying to build a new type of item based on Multiple numerical input and with slider layout. I've seen the sum maximum value option but there is not an automatic adjustment.
For example if I change the value of a subquestion and exceed the the sum maximum value, the values of other subquestion remain the same and don't decrease.
I'd like to have an automatic adjustment, if exceed the the sum maximum value of one point in automatic the values of other subquestion decrease of the same over quote value.
Do you think it's possible? Any suggestion with the code?

Thanks!!

Andr

If I understood this right I doubt that this is possible. For the respondent to understand this, you would have to change the scale as well, so that they can see that there is not 100 left, but only let's say 50.

I find this an usability issue. I think it would be difficult for respondents to understand.

Maybe someone else has a good idea? Or maybe I got you totally wrong...

Maybe a drawing would make it easier to understand?

I give you an example, look this image

Imagine that the sum maximum value is 100, and I have distributed the color with these values:
Blue: 50
Red: 30
Green 20

Now, If I scroll the cursor and if I change the values to:
Blue: 60 <---
Red: 30
Green 20

The total sum maximum will exceed! There is not the possibility to keep constant the sum maximum value with an automatic and proportionate decreasing of other values?
In this case the new values there'll be:
Blue: 60 <---
Red: (30-5)=25
Green (20-5)=15

Thanks!!!

Andr

I agree with Holch, this is not easily done and would (in my opinion) lead to confusing the respondent.

I would go for the normal multiple numerical input type question. The slider layout is missleading here.
