When I press exit and clear survye, I get a confirmation that the answers are cleared, but when I click on restart the survey, I come back to where I was in the survey with all answers intact.

Is there something I have missed somewhere?

Please open a ticket at the bugtracker and...

1. Give as much information as possible

2. Attach your survey. You can mark your ticket "private" so that only the developers will be able to take a look at it.

3. Provide step-by-step instructions how to reproduce the problem.

4. If possible/helpful please provide screenshots

Afterwards please post the link to the bugtracker so we can follow the progress.

Thanks!

Sorry Mazi.... This is not an error. I had enabled token-based response persistence. When I turned this off, exit and clear worked as it should.

OK, that explains everything, it's intended behavior then.

Why is this indented? You want the data be persistent as long as you don't want to clear the data. That sound good and practical for tokenbased studies.

Well, at least is shouldn't say that it has cleared the answers. And I have to agree with Jelo. If we offer the button "clear answers", then it should clear the answers, no matter what. No questions asked.

Because it is the will of the respondent. We shouldn't ignore that, even if we want the answers to persistant in general. If we don't want to give the possibility to clear the answers, then we shouldn't offer the button.
Have a look at the manual! It is a really valuable source for information. Here some helpful links:

Setting "Allow editing answers after completion" is only working if setting "Enable token-based response persistence" is on?
Right or wrong? The patch ticket says right.
bugs.limesurvey.org/view.php?id=4660

If you set "Allow editing answers after completion" to YES and "Enable token-based response persistence" to NO you override the tokenusage left.
If "Uses left" is zero you still can enter the survey with the token.
I am unaware if "Allow editing answers after completion" means that the questions are than prefilled with the given answers or if you just can overwrite the survey without seeing your former answers. I cannot see prefilled forms.

A matrix to show which setting dominates another setting when they exclude each other. Or we need additional warnings in the gui when settings exclude each other.

Under build 10951 I wasn't able to reproduce the issue.
Take a look at the ticket and a comment if you can reproduce the problem.

I can't reproduce this issue at the latest 1.91 version so it should be fixed.
