Dear all,

I am having an issue with cahging the group-order.
Whatever I do, using the arrow of the drop-down boxes. The groups are not changing. We have vs 1,87, everything is default. I tried it with different surveys. Active ->Deactivate. Created a new survey from scratch, no result unfortunately.

Changing question-orders does work.

Hope you can help, I am probably overlooking something.

Regards, Marten

I checked on the demo version....
My reply to the other topic about Conditons:
Hi Mazi,

Thank you for your answer.
I tested both my questions and on your demo everything works fine.
I had already searched through the doc's and change logs on Sourceforge and found something about conditions and group order. But specific enough.

As I mentioned we have 1.87.
The test succeeded, would it be best to upgrade to 1.90+?

Thanks and have a nice weekend, Marten

It seems something is wrong in our installaton of 1.87

Hmm... The upgrade had no effect.

We looked into the database and see that all group-order numbers are set to 0
Even if I create a new survey, the number for each group = 0
That explains that we can't change the order.

We we hack the numbers to 1,2,3,4,etc we can use the function 'Change Group order' Obvious.
If I then add a new group, the number is updated to 5. That ok as well.

Big question: Why are all the group-order numbers initial set to 0
(I also saw in one survey: 3 x 0 and 2 x 1 (so 3 zero's and 2 one's)

Can somebody help?

My first guess is that the problem was created at an older version which might have had a grouporder bug. Now all surveys have assigned order value "0" which is probably the reason why the reordering fails.
I think the only solution is to manually set the group order at the DB. Then everything should work as expected at 1.90 and you should be able to change the order.

Hi Mazi, I'm from the same company as Marten. If I may add my 2$c:

Just for background, we encountered the problem both in 1.87 and in 1.90+, build 9642. Our setup is IIS + MSSQL Server, PHP 5.2 and use the database driver 'mssql_n'. We upgraded one of the 1.87 versions here to 1.90+, manual instructions. So we can test on both.

Now - if we patch those existing surveys in de database, giving each group_order field a different integer, it seems to work well and we can add a group in both versions, the numbering goes well.

For the 1.90+ version I just tried this:

1. Create a new survey, got id 13687

- If I create a new suvery and start adding a group, I see that the first group_order entrry is set at "0":
CL-USER> (clsql:query "select * from lime_groups where sid=13687")
((46 13687 "First group" 0 "Test opmerking first group<br />" "en"))
("gid" "sid" "group_name" "group_order" "description" "language")

- Now, after adding a second group the same query:
CL-USER> (clsql:query "select * from lime_groups where sid=13687")
((46 13687 "First group" 0 "Test opmerking first group<br />" "en")
(47 13687 "Second group" 0 "Test remarks second group<br />" "en"))
("gid" "sid" "group_name" "group_order" "description" "language")

Now, with two groups at group_order "0", we cannot reorder those groups until we have adjusted them manually.

Hope this helps. Let me know if I can help in any way tracking this one down.

Best regards,
-Emile

Thanks for the additonal information. If the problem also shows up when creating surveys, there seems to be a (MS SQL) bug.

Please open a ticket at the bugtracker and...

1. Give as much information as possible

2. Attach your survey. You can mark your ticket "private" so that only the developers will be able to take a look at it.

3. Provide step-by-step instructions how to reproduce the problem.

4. If possible/helpful please provide screenshots

Afterwards please post the link to the bugtracker so we can follow the progress.

Thanks!
