When exporting, it truncates <256 columns, not just in .xls or .doc but also in .csv but why limit it to .csv too? New MS .xlsx and .docx does not limit to <256 columns.

Is there any way to export more than >256 columns of data?

For CSV I think you can simply mark more than 256 columns and export them.
Have a look at the manual! It is a really valuable source for information. Here some helpful links:

Is this really limited to 256 columns?

If so, add this as a feature request at our feature tracker . Please describe your idea as detailed as possible and try to outline a suitable solution/implementation aswell.

Ok, I have to re-select the column to all, then it exports >256 columns to .csv (It selected 256 by default).

Is there any plans to export to .xlsx or .docx?

You should be able to open both (.xls and .doc) at the latest Office versions?!

I think he/she refers to export for the new versions, because the limits for columns is a lot higher than 256. So an export to xlsx would have the advantage, that there is no limit of 256 columns, but of 16.384 columns.

Hi

First export it to CSV, I think there is no such 256 columns limit and then:

No need office 2007, OpenOffice.org Calc have more than 256 column before MS-Office Excel.
And i never work to make a xslx export (maybe an ODS, but CSV is suffiscient)
And openoffice open CSV too.

Maybe we can remove the default 256 column maximum for CSV .
