Hi dear helpers,

my name is Sebastian and for my master thesis I need a slider which has 2 different answer scales on the left and right side.

The users should set a price which fits their needs but also have the ability to say when the "are not interested".

To work with this later in SPSS, I want to make the scale between 1 and 100 with steps of 1. On the left side it should say 0€ and the right side should say "no interest".

Can anybody help me how to realise this?

Thank you in advance!

Best

Sebastian Tischer

Are you sure your description is correct?

So on the left side of the slider it says 0 Euros, then goes up from 1 to 100 and then it says "no interest", just next to the 100???

Maybe a mockup of what you want to do would help. At the moment it looks quite weird to me.

Hi Holch,

thank you very much for your reply! I am sorry it seems to not have been clear!

Ok, I need 4 sliders to get 4 pricing values (Van Westendorp method).

Each Slider has a scale between lets say 0 and 50. BUT: I need to find out if people might not be interested in this type of procudt so I thought if I tell them the highest price on the scale means "no interest" I am fine with analysis later in SPSS and it is more logical.

I attach how it should look like :)

I hope it is more clear now?!

Best and really thank you very much for the help

Sebastian

Wouldn't an open question be better for Van Westendorp? I mean with the sliders you exclude completely unrealistic prices, but on the other hand you limit it somehow...

Now to your problem. Here is what it looks like:

And here the example how to do it. You basically need to define the "Left right separator". I usually use "|". So then you write this for the question item "Question Text|Left|Right" and it shows like above.

Great :) Exactly this was what I needed!

I just didn't knew how to use the text separator field in advanced settings!

You really helped me a lot thank you very much :)

I think the slider is more convenient and so I can find out whether people aren't interested at all in the product (it is about dropboxs different pro versions).

So I don't think I will get an unrealstic price!

Thanks again a lot for your great help!

Best

Great that it worked.

I meant that if you use a open ended question, then you might get some weired values...
