Hi all,

I'm a new user to LimeSurvey so firstly a massive thank you to all involved in producing this great free software.

Now my query...

I'm looking to generate pdf reports 'on the fly' by using a hyperlink (or any other method that will achieve the same results).
I've had a look through the topics but not found what I'm looking for.

The scenario:
Using LimeSurvey 2 plus build 130311
A token based survey has been taken by all users.
Extra attributes have been recorded, i.e. class/course.

I would like to know if a pdf could be generated from a url with post/get variables instead of using the LimeSurvey interface?

Many thanks in advance,
Cheers
T

You can pass variables from the survey (responses, attributes from the token table, etc) pass onto a external script via the end url feature.

However, if there are a lot of variables to pass on, you might want to get them directly from the response table. You could pass on the id of the response and then make a sql query to the database.
Have a look at the manual! It is a really valuable source for information. Here some helpful links:

Hi holch and thank you for your response.

My apologies if I'm picking you up wrong but I was thinking more along the lines of using the pdf generation in LimeSurvey (as all the hard work has already been done to handle the question types/stats and presentation).

I was hoping with a little coding, I could throw a URL at LimeSurvey and I could get the pdf as the result?

Thanks again

OK, then I got you wrong.

Unfortunately I don't really understand what you want to do. You want to use data from a survey or from an external tool?

Sorry holch, all data comes from a survey.
The extra attributes are actually irrelevant right now.

Essentially, I would like the pdf file that LimeSurvey creates but without having to go through the admin statistics interface to create it.

Instead I would like to click on a hyperlink/button (from an external webpage that contains the survey id and any other variables required) that takes the user to LimeSurvey and in turn, LimeSurvey generates the pdf there and then without the need for the admin statistics page?

Hello,

Great :).

If you need some new function in remote control, and you have some PHP competence :
- You can put some feature request for the next release (maybe 2.06 if not in 2.05)
- Do some patch and make a pull request on github : help.github.com/articles/using-pull-requests

If it's any help, I have written a PHP module which uses FPDF to create a custom PDF report directly from the results database and am happy to provide some advice... or even quote for such a job (am I allowed to say that here?). The module is of course callable from a link on a web page.
