TOPIC: to choose questions from base randomly

to choose questions from base randomly 2 years 7 months ago #76038

Hello everybody!

We have a list of questions divided by groups
(for example, 1 - questions concerning Russian language, 2 - maths, 3 - physics, etc). Each group contains questions of different complexity level
(easy, middle complexity, very complex).

For performing a test we need to choose a definite (previously given, so already known) number of questions from all the groups and of different complexity. Noting that the questions are being chosen randomly.

How could we do that?

Thank you for your answers!

Have a look at this workaround that generates a random number to control survey behaviour - docs.limesurvey.org/tiki-index.php?page=...rol_survey_behaviour

Are there any further randomization requirements like "all question should roughly be displayed the same number of times"? Because then it gets a little more tricky, you have to store which questions were displayed and the randomization features then needs to take the previous results into account.

tpartner, Mazi, many thanks!
Workaround "Random question sets" - it is very helpful!!
"all question should roughly be displayed the same number of times"
This time I will do without it, too difficult :)

If the randomization feature/algorithm is good and the number of participants big enough, all questions should show up more or less the same number of times anyway.

If you take the previously shown questions into account, than it can not really be called "random" anymore.
Have a look at the manual! It is a really valuable source for information. Here some helpful links:
