Hi,

the LimeSurvey provides the option to show HTML code where you enter the text that will be displayed. I want to surround certain words with HTML tags to show a tooltip. This works.

Problem: There are lots of those words. Using the webinterface would take hours since you can only view the text of one question or group at one time. Also I would probably miss a few words.

Idea: Download the survey and edit the question in HTML.

Final Problem: The Text in the XML is plain. I can't see how HTML is represented.

At the XML file the HTML should be shown as pure HTML code as I suppose?!

I hoped it was simply mixed with the text in some way. It isn't. So I searched for the tags I used but they are not there either.

I am not sure if I get your question right. Neither my knowledge of english nor XML is too good. Are you being ironic?

The HTML information must be stored somewhere. When you export the survey you get only one XML file. Makes me think that the information must be in the XML.

I'm pretty sure the HTML tags exist at the XMl file. maybe your editor strips them? When viewing a .lss file in Notepad XML editor I see some tags:
html_xml.PNG

You can also test by importing the .lss file and check if the formats show up at the imported survey.

Comparation with eclipse shows that the difference is present in the XML files before and after addition of HTML. Even between the text and the exact Position. Take a look at the attachment, a screenshot of the Eclipse comparation. OnboardIT has a tooltip and Eclipse highlights it. The actual difference is not visible.

Since I believe that Eclipse shows pure text I can't understand how there could be a difference between two identically looking words

Ok, your last post came when I was writing. I tried different Editors. All show the same text. Only to be sure. When I export the Survey I choose queXML survey XML format (*.xml). This is also the xmi file. Right?

Nope! queXML is an export for a special tool. These tags might get striped there. Use export to .lss file.
