TOPIC: Possible to localize Number format?

Possible to localize Number format? 2 years 10 months ago #67570

Hi I am using question type Matrix (text) and the option only numbers
When checking this option I can enter numbers from 0 to 9 comma and point and + and -

But the number is not localized correctly. If I enter 1.000.000 (which is quite common) the result is 1.0
Is it possible to change this to accept only . or , as decimal separator?
Can this be configured in LimeSurvey?

Thanks

Additional info: I just found out that I can enter comma via the comma key on numbers block but not the comma key on the regular keyboard

(hope this information helps)

That is strange. Please file a bug report if you can easily reproduce the problem at different surveys and when using different browsers.

As for the separator: You can change that for each survey language at survey settings -> text elements -> "Decimal separator:"

Thank you for the hint with the separaor setting. This works just fine for QuestionType Only Number.

But when I have a question that has the question type short text there is also the option "only numbers" and here it does not work. This is not my real problem. My real problem is that I want to use question type matrix and there I want to have the possibility to allow only numbers.

When I choose question type "matrix (numbers)" I have dropdown boxes with numbers. When I choose question type "matrix (text)" I have fields where I can enter text and if I choose the option only numbers it is the english format. But this I don't want to have.

And then there is also the problem as described before with the comma and the numbers block
thanks

This sounds like three different issues (I marked them above). Please create a ticket for each one and mark them as "related".
More Information (copy-paste):
Please test if the problem still exists at the latest release. If so please open a ticket at the bugtracker and...
  1. Give as much information as possible
  2. Attach your survey. You can mark your ticket "private" so that only the developers will be able to take a look at it.
  3. Provide step-by-step instructions how to reproduce the problem.
  4. If possible/helpful please provide screenshots

Afterwards please post the link to the bugtracker so we can follow the progress.

Thanks!

Ok, I updated to the latest version

1 ) is working
2 ) is working but you have to check use textinput in the extended options. It seems that the default option is using drop down boxes for matrix (numbers)
3 ) this is still not working but as 2 ) is working, there is no need to use matrix (text) and use the extended option "only numbers"

Sorry for the inconvenience
Thank you once again

If I sum this up correctly there is still one bug remaining. Please open a ticket at our bugtracker. If no one reports the bugs, we can't fix them.
