Can anyone help?

My survey contains 389 responses. As my version of Excel is limited to 255 columns, I can't export all responses at once. A solution to this would seem to be exporting data as rows instead of columns - but I can't find a way to do this.

Is this possible with Limesurvey, or is there another way round? Exporting twice seems like a bit of a clumsy and time-consuming solution.

Thanks,

Luke

Unfortunately it's not possible to export that way.

I am a little confused: with responses do you mean completed questionnaires or answers for within one questionnaire?

As the answers of reach respondent are usually stored in the lines, I assume you mean that you have 389 answers to questions.

I don't think that there is much to do within Limesurvey. The problem is the limit of your excel. I don't think that you will find something that is less clumsy and time-consuming than exporting 2 files. Actually exporting 2 files isn't too much.

But, if you want to do it in a different way: you could always download the newest version of LibreOffice/OpenOffice. They can work with more than 255 columns. Then you either use this software to work with on the data, or you copy the data, transpose it and then you should be able to open it in Excel, as long as you have less than 254 participants...
Have a look at the manual! It is a really valuable source for information. Here some helpful links:

Thanks for your reply.

I want to export the results that I've got from completed questionnaires. The nature of the questionnaire is that there are 389 possible responses - but those questioned won't always give 389 answers. However, this still produces 389 results, including blank answers.

Unfortunately, as I work for a local authority I'm stuck with my old version of Excel, and can't download OpenOffice. You're right though, it would be a much better spreadsheet to use.

Thanks again,

Luke
