This is an addition to my post of a few minutes ago (see below).

The feature we require (and are prepared to pay for) could also be used for some type of "garage sales" - there are a number of items, say IT equipment your institute no longer needs, and you want to make that available to other IT departments elsewhere (not necessarily for money), e.g. printers, toner cartridges for several models, networking accessories - usually more than one of each.

You then would need a functionality that if you have 3 printers to give away (all one particular model of a laser printer in this example), the first colleague from another institute sees a counter of 3 next to this printer item, the second is presented with a counter of 2, the third colleague to enter the survey should see that only one of these printers is left and after all printers have been claimed, getting a printer should no longer be a choice in the survey. It is not really necessary to see how many items of a particular category are still left, but it would be a nice extra - the main thing (from our point of view) is that if you have N items of a certain type to give away, the request for item #N+1 should fail with a suitable message. The perfect solution would also allow to specify that of a particular resource only M items can be claimed by one participant, e.g. only one time slot for each participant in one particular survey, but for another survey possibly all toner cartridges (in the latter case, only as long as any are left, of course).

Many thanks in advance,
Stefan

Subject: "Help with management of time slots for probands"

we have a feature request which I posted to the Development forum some days ago - maybe here is a better place.

Our institute is prepared to spend 500 Euros on a feature to help us with this:

"For a particular experiment, we want probands to sign up for a particular time slot (from a number of choices). At the beginning of the survey, each time slot is available for a certain number of probands (possibly just one). Whenever a proband selects a particular time slot, that time slot should become unavailable for the next proband filling out the survey (if enough probands have registered for this particular time slot). Is this possible with LimeSurvey?"

Mazi proposed this solution:

Maybe one can implement a new question attribute like "disable answer option when quota is reached"? Seem to be the only solution to me because we somehow have to query the database to check for the number of given answers.

We think this might be a good way to tackle the problem but are open to other suggestions as well.

Many thanks in advance.
Warm regards,
Stefan

Some comments
1. "...if you have N items of a certain type to give away, the request for item #N+1 should fail with a suitable message."
I suggest to just disable these settings and maybe add a shoert comment like (no longer selectable)

2. "The perfect solution would also allow to specify that of a particular resource only M items can be claimed by one participant"
In this case we do not only need a value like "X items available" for each item but maybe also a "Y items per participant" or one general settings for all items, what do you think?
