Hi Limesurvey,
I was just doing the 3-step comfort update as I have done many times before.
But this time, during step four, I ended up with a plain white screen on my web browser and nothing else happening. Now, when I go to login, I get the same thing happen. No login screen, just a plain white screen.
Any ideas?
Best,
Miles

Update.
I figured the white screen-ness might be browser dependent.
I was originally using FF.
In IE I get a HTTP 500 error.
Best,
Miles

The exact same thing happened to me, so I assume it must have been a glitch in the update.

Now the spacing and layout of the admin interface is all messed up too. For example, the question settings have the radio buttons split in a funny way with the "yes" option for mandatory questions or "other" option displayed by the left margin of the screen. (See screenshot)

Is there a way to revert to the previous version?

from which version did you update to? An older version of 2.00 to a newer version of it, or from 1.9x to 2.0? Or 2.05?
Have a look at the manual! It is a really valuable source for information. Here some helpful links:

Thanks Holch.

A really sensible question. Although it is a little tricky to answer, because as I say, I get a white screen or HTTP 500 error when I go to my login screen. So I can't go back and look. Is there any other way I can find out? (Can I log onto my website and find a change log, for example?)

To try and help answer your question: I keep limesurvey up to date and use the comfort update pretty much as soon as an update appears in the top right hand corner of the screen. So I imagine the update I applied will have appeared in the last 3 days.

The update process seemed to go normally. However looking back on it now a couple of things were unusual.

1. If I recall correctly, the text box on the "change log" was empty.
2. A little later limesurvey said something like (not these words): "the version number we have found is different to what we expected, but don't worry, we are going to change that anyway".

But at neither point did it suggest stopping the update process. So I kept updating and now I can't log in.

Please help.

Well, do you at least know if you were on the 2.00 branch or already on the newest 2.05 branch? I assume that it is the 2.05 branch, because my 2.00installation did not show any available update for the last 2-3 weeks I'd say. But maybe there is something wrong with my installation, because usually the updates come more frequently.

A totally understandable question to ask. But I don't remember. And now - being that I can't login - I'm not sure I can access that information. I wonder how else can I find out?

That said, like you I assume 2.05.

I just forced my 2.00installation to check for updates and there is an update from the 16/01/ available.

I also updated a 2.05installation which I am currently testing and there was also an update available. So I guess my assumption above isn't valid. It could be both, 2.00 and 2.05. My 2.05 update ran smooth. with the 2.00 update I'll wait because I have a survey running which will be done by tomorrow.

I assume you also don't remember at which stage of the update process the white screen appeared and if there were any messages during the update?

I had the same problem. I performed a 3-click ComfortUpdate from
2.00+ Build 131206
to
2.05+(140116)

--> end with white screen (not tried with another browser).

Had to restore my install from my backup.

Holch,

With regards what stage. No. I'm not sure.
