[done] using "rankings" 2 Months ago Karma: 0
ver 1.7

using "rankings" is is possible to limit the number of "Your Rakings" to a set number. We have a long list of "Your Choices" 30some and to discourage the pollee/respondent (if that's the word) them from going thru the entire choices list, because we only need the top few that are important to them.

And them seeing the matching number of "Your Rakings" inspires them to go nuts and clicking down the list.

There is also the intimidation factor by seeing so many empty spaces.

Also can we widen the choices or ranking "dialog list box" (probably not the correct term)

Thanks

Hi, This is not available in version 1.7x (as far as I know!). You may like to take a look at the LS2 wiki:

http://docs.limesurvey.org/tiki-index.php?page=LimeSurvey+2.0+Ideas+%26amp%3B+Requests

Scroll down to 'Rankings with limited number of possible ranks, though unlimited number of choices'

It may assist you in the short term.

Thanks, gmaddockgreene, it seems that billythegates did a workaround but with LS it seems to be just a whishlist item. I emailed him, if he gets back I'll post it.

He mentioned:
"I managed to implement these features using DHTML+XPATH, but there were some things that were quite annoying..." ...
but doesn't explain how other than what he used.

This would be a nice feature which isn't hard to implement. Just add a "limit ranking" attribute to a ranking question.

Would be interesting to know more about the solution mentioned.
