Re:Upgrade installation help for Non-PHP writer! 3 Months, 2 Weeks ago

Okay... I figured out to access the file via my browser, but it says my database is up to date, and then it says "Everything is fine - you just forgot to delete or rename your LimeSurvey installation directory (/admin/install)."
I swear I have read the appropriate section in the manual...it doesn't say anything about deleting or renaming my admin/install directory.
I'm also wondering why the new database didn't "run" and update.
Seriously... any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm sure I will feel dumb and hit myself in the forehead for not seeing it. But right now I really do need help getting this. I don't want to screw it up.
Thank you.

Ah, thanks Merk. What sort of result did you get when you ran the file in the browser? Did it say you were already up to date? Or did you get prompts to upgrade?
Thanks for your response!!

I'm in the same boat, it said everything was fine.
Deleting the /admin/install directory is a normal part of the installation process, upgrade or not. That's probably why it wasn't in the updating instructions.

Ohh...okay. Good to know. It's been a long time since I've worked with sever installations, etc., so I didn't realize that. I'm used to, you know, software installations!! Thanks so much for the info. I really appreciate it!!

Hey Merk, can I ask you something else that will probably be a simple answer for you? On the original download page, there were actually 4 sets of files, including ONE .zip file. According to the manual, all the instructions dealt with the files in the .zip folder. What are the other 3 for?
Thanks for the education!!

If you are missing some information in the manual feel free to improve it yourself. Our manual is a wiki, everyone can edit it and you can't do much wrong.
So if you miss anything in the manual and you found out how to do it please add this information. Thanks!
