[done] Attribute1 & Attribute2 2 Months, 2 Weeks ago Karma: 0
Hi there,

I am a biggner who is using limesurvey 1.71 (5001). I am trying to import a CSV file with the information about my sample (firstname, lastname, email, token, language code, attribute1, attribute2). I converted an excel file with these information to a CSV file (to get the double quotationin the CSV file, i fist converted the excel file to Access file, and then exported the material in a CSV file).

The file is imported and read successfuly. However, I am facing the following problem: the imported columns do not match the columns in Limesurvey. I face this problem with the attributes. Attribute1 features end up in the column of Language code. Whereas attribute2 ends up in attribute1 column. Both attribute 1 and 2 have numerical (0 decimal) information.

What did i do wrong? I repeated my work 13 times but can not figure out where the problem is.

I have been searching in the forums for the last 3 hours but with no sucess.

Many thanks for any help.

PS: i saw that someone in the forum could not import email addresses, although could import CSV file. I faced this problem today too but i solved it. If that person uses Excel, then s/he might need to expand the width of the cell with the heading "Email" before converting the file to CSV.

Plz at the beginning upgrade your version and tell us if you can reproduce the problem on the latest build of LimeSurvey - THX.

Thanks very much LaMatador69, but i have just found a solution I copied and pasted the information in the Excel file in an Access table and then exported the data as a CSV file. And it WORKED!!! The attributes ended up in the attributes designated columns and i could easily generate the Token.

Thanks guys for a wonderful job - if i will ever make money from using LimeSurvey i will definately not forget you in a decent share, you definately deserve it.

Using Excel AND Limesurvey's import/export interface often causes problems because Excel seems to use a different internal data structure than the csv. files genereated/read by limesurvey.
