[done] Identifying groups of respondants 2 Months, 3 Weeks ago

I searched around with this question and I could not find an answer to this question, so hopefully I am not being redundant. I am preparing a survey that will be used by 2,000-4,000 employees at a large company. We would like to be able to sort the responses by director (about 20). I was trying to find a way to use tokens to identify the participants, with perhaps a secondary token linking them to one of the 20 directors. Is this possible using tokens?
The closest I found searching the forum was someone who ultimately decided to just use multiple surveys. Just due to the sheer number of respondents I am going to be getting, I would prefer not to use this method.
I am using version 1.70+ right now, in the process of updating to the latest 1.71+. Thanks in advance!

How do you put your participants data into the tokens table?
By importing the data you can import tokens too. Keeping this in mind you can use a certain kind of token for each group e.g. group one has a token G1-bcebiewicwui, group 2 = G2-opowsnvova and so on. This is the first solution which came into my mind. There might be better ways.

While it more than likely will be possible for me to import token data for each of the participants; quite honestly, I would rather not! I forsee problems working with the client regarding an LDAP (technical problems, mostly), and CSVs would take a while, considering they would be coming from many different sources.
At the same time, I would also prefer not to have public registration enabled, as the more steps people have to take to complete the survey, the less likely they are to actually take the survey.
Maybe this is the better question: Is there a way I can give each director a link to the survey and a code that that is unique to each director that the participants can type in before they start the survey? Can that be done with a "reusable" token; i.e., a token that is tied to the director that each person who works under them can enter?
If I haven't made it clear, I am not too worried about individually identifying each participant.
Thanks so much for the help, there is a really great community here. I really love the software!

Tokens can only be used once and for a single person.
It seems that the only solution will be to use multiple surveys. You can easily copy a survey by using export/import. After that each survey has it's own URL depending on the survey ID.

If all you really need is "to be able to sort the responses by director" and you're willing/able to "give each director ... a code that the participants can type in", then surely you could simply ask for the code in a question?
Regards.

Thank you so much for your responses.
Mazi: Interesting solutions, I yet make use of sbz's script.
ITEd: Thank you for pointing out a simple solution! I hadn't even thought of that, and it may be the best option. My only problem with it is that it may not be secure enough for the client.
I will present both options to my boss (using tokens and the question method from ITEd) and see which one he likes better.
Thank you again, I really appreciate all the help!
