I have the survey open in notepad. Where do I change the survey title?

If you are referring to his instructions to change it in LimeSurvey, I can't do it that way because of the error I get on import, which has been already discussed in this topic, and which you have reported as a bug. We are using the latest version of LimeSurvey (our IT person just downloaded and installed it 3 days ago). I have not opened the sql file in excel, so excel is not the problem. I just need to know where in the sql file to change the survey title with wordpad so I can get it to import properly so that I can make changes and edit in LimeSurvey.

If you know the old survey title you should be able to find it using wordpad search and then replace the string?!

Why don't you just export again, import and change the title the way it was suggested before?

By the way the reported error was no limesurvey error at all but was caused by a mistake the user made.

We are getting confused here!! The bug reported was nothing to do with changing the title. You can change the title of your survey as I posted earlier .. or as Mazi describes. Personally I would change through the GUI rather than changing the data-source. This way you will preserve you data format for sure.

I figured it out. I was getting the error that the import failed because the sql file was not created with LimeSurvey, although it was created with an older version (not sure which one) of PHPSurveyor. So I read the forum here, and figured that the survey name needed to be changed, but I didn't know where or why or how. Based on your answer above, I changed the survey name to a new name with no spaces in it in the sql file using wordpad. I then tried to import again, and finally got success. So I think the error was caused by the previous version allowing file names with spaces, but those do not import properly and have to be changed. I could not go back and export again, because we used the same server, and the old version was removed before the new LimeSurvey was installed. Anyway, I figured it out. Thanks.
